The Rudong GESS Project is located in Yangkou Town, Rudong, Jiangsu Province, with a construction scale of 26MW/100MWh. The 148m-high building structure is the world's first commercial-scale deployment of a non-pumped hydro, gravitational energy storage system. The construction saw a successful topping out in September 2023 and is now in the final commissioning stage. In January 2024, the project was recognized as the Pilot Demo Project for New Forms of Energy Storage by the National Energy Administration of China.
